About Delonte West
Following a successful junior year of college basketball with the Saint Joseph’s University’s Hawks, Delonte West entered the 2004 NBA draft, during which he was chosen by the Boston Celtics.
After three years with the Celtics, he had stints with the Seattle Supersonics, Cleveland Cavaliers and then with the Celtics once more. His final spell in the NBA was with the Dallas Mavericks from 2011 to 2012.
He also played in the NBA G-League for the Texas Legends and the Chinese league for the Fujian Xunxing and Shanghai Sharks.
Personal Life
He is of multiracial heritage: African American, White American and Piscataway Native American. He has two sons with Caressa Madden, whom he married in 2013. It was his second marriage.
He struggled financially and with substance abuse for several years after leaving the NBA.
Achievements
He made the First-team All-Atlantic 10 in 2003 and 2004.
Trivia
After a video of him as a homeless man was shared on social media in 2020, Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks helped him get into rehabilitation.
