About Dean Smith
Dean Smith is an English soccer manager. He played soccer professionally from 1989 to 2005 with the teams Port Vale, Sheffield Wednesday, Leyton Orient, Hereford United and Walsall.
His first head coaching job was with his former team, Walsall in 2011. He moved to Brentford in 2015 and coached the team until 2018. He has attracted international attention with his exploits since joining Aston Villa in 2018.
Family Life
Ron Smith, his father, worked at Aston Villa’s stadium, Villa Park as a steward. As of early 2020, Smith is a married man with two children.
Achievements
He won the Premier League “Manager of the Month” award for December 2020. Nine months prior, he had been named “EFL Championship Manager of the Month”. He also helped Aston Villa place second in the 2019/2020 EFL Cup.
Trivia
He received his UEFA Pro Licence in the same year as fellow players-turned-managers Brendan Rogers, Roy Keane and Ian McParland.
