David Selby is an American television personality and performer renowned for his roles in “Dark Shadows”, “Flamingo Road” and “Raise the Titanic”. He is also an author and has many literary works to his name.

His parents were Sarah E. and Clyde Ira Selby.
Education
He is an alumnus of West Virginia University and Southern Illinois University.
Career
Selby was cast in a civil war play “Honey in the Rock” while at West Virginia University. After learning the ropes in acting, he had his big break in 1968 when he secured a role in the TV series “Dark Shadows”. He reprised his character in “Night of Dark Shadows”, a horror film based on the series.
The American actor starred together with Barbra Streisand in Irvin Kershner’s comedy-drama “Up the Sandbox” in 1972.
In the subsequent years, the West Virginia-born actor featured in several film and television programs like “The Super Cops”, “Rich Kids”, and “Police Woman”.
In 1977, he was a member of a celebrity cast of the Emmy Award-winning miniseries “Washington: Behind Closed Doors” where he played Roger Castle. That same year, he appeared in the TV movie “Telethon”.
From the 1970s onward, he has appeared in over 10 TV series, including “Flamingo Road”, “Mad Men”, “Falcon Crest”, and “Castle Rock”. In “Falcon Crest”, he was a regular, appearing in over 200 episodes from 1982 to 1990.
Selby was also in an episode of the series “Touched by an Angel” and “NCIS: New Orleans”. In the former, he was cast as Abraham Lincoln.
Trivia
Selby performed on stage with Barack Obama and played Lincoln in an act from the drama “The Heavens are Hung in Black” in 2009 to celebrate 16th US President Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday anniversary.
