About David Horowitz
David Joel Horowitz is a renowned American political activist and conservative writer. The author is the president and founding member of the right-wing and anti-Muslim foundation “David Horowitz Freedom Center (DHFC).” He is also a vital figure of “FrontPage Magazine” and “Discover the Networks.”
Background & Education
He is from the Forest Hills area of Queens, New York City. In 1959, he earned his BA degree (English major) from Columbia University and later received his post-graduate degree in English literature from the University of California, Berkeley.
Career Highlights
During the 1960s, he was a resident of London and was working for the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation. During those years, Horowitz identified as a “Marxist.”
In January 1996, he joined forces with the “Trotskyist International Marxist Group” and formed the “Vietnam Solidarity Campaign.”
The campaign organized various protests against Britain’s support of the Vietnam War. He returned to the USA in January 1968 and worked as a co-editor for the “Ramparts” magazine.
He published his Academic Bill of Rights (ABR), in which he proposed the right means to eliminate the politically biased university grading system in the USA. In addition, he founded the Students for Academic Freedom and has written several books on cultural criticism with Peter Collier.
