David Foster Wallace was an American novelist and short story writer famed for his 1996 novel entitled Infinite Jest. His other notable works include The Broom of the System, A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again and Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. He was working on the novel The Pale King when he committed suicide in 2008. He was 46 years old.

He married painter Karen L. Green in 2004. He remained married to her until his death in 2008.
Achievements
Throughout his career, he amassed numerous awards and honors including a Whiting Award, a Lannan Literary Award and a Salon Book Award. In 1997, he won the Aga Khan Prize for Fiction. Time magazine named Infinite Jest as one of the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to 2005. His unfinished novel The Pale King was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in 2012.
