About David Berkowitz
David Berkowitz is an American serial killer who gained worldwide notoriety in the late 1970s for killing six people and wounding seven others in New York City between 1976 and 1977. He got his nickname the .44 Caliber Killer as a result of his weapon of choice, a .44 caliber Bulldog revolver. He was also known as the Son of Sam. Having eluded capture for over a year, he was finally apprehended in August 1977 and sentenced to six life sentences.

He was the son of Betty Broder and Joseph Kleinman.
Trivia
He claimed he was instructed by a demon to commit the murders.
His case led to the enacting of the Son of Sam law that prevents criminals and their friends or family members from profiting financially from the notoriety of their crimes.
