About David Akers
David Akers is a retired American football player who featured in the National Football League as a placekicker for 16 seasons. After going undrafted in the 1997 NFL Draft, he tried his luck as a free agent with the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons but was unsuccessful.
He joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999 after the Washington Redskins, for which he played a single game, waived him. He was with the Eagles for 12 seasons and played for the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions as well.
Family Life
He has three children with his wife, Erika.
Achievements
He was the recipient of the 2011 PFW Golden Toe Award. He made it to the Pro-Bowl six times in his career. He was also named in the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team.
Trivia
He has formally been trained in Shaolin Kempo and Jiu-jitsu.
