Dave Debusschere [David Albert DeBusschere] is famed for his remarkable achievements in big-league American Sports. He was a major league baseball player, professional NBA player and an NBA coach.
Background
The legendary sportsman and coach grew up in Detroit. When he was a student in the University of Detroit, he was a pivotal player both in the college basketball and the college baseball teams. He contributed significantly to both teams making it into major college tournaments.
Sports Career
The outstanding athlete was signed up to pitch for the Major League Baseball team the Chicago White Sox in 1962. He quit after three seasons in major league baseball to focus on basketball.
Debusschere was drafted into the Detroit Pistons in 1962. Two years later he was made player-coach of the team; making him the youngest coach in American league history at the time.
Four seasons later, he was traded to the New York Knicks for two Knicks players. He became an NBA champion only a season later when the Knicks won the championship against the LA Lakers.
The All-star player took up an assistant coaching job with the Knicks a couple of years after retirement from the league.
Death
The prolific American sportsman and coach died from a fatal heart attack at age 62.

By the year 2020, Dave Debusschere was one of only 13 American athletes to play in both Major League Baseball and the NBA.
