Dave Bautista is an actor and former professional wrestler who gained international stardom as a professional wrestler with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he fought under the ring name Batista and won several titles, including four Heavyweight Championships and two WWE Championships.

As an actor, his notable film credits include “The Man with the Iron Fists”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”, the James Bond film, “Specter”, “L.A. Slasher”. In 2021, he appeared in the critically acclaimed sci-fi film “Dune”, which was directed by Denis Villeneuve and starred Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem, among others.

Family Life and Early Life

He is the son of Donna Raye and David Michael Bautista. The future wrestler and actor had a difficult upbringing, with some of his childhood delinquencies including committing auto theft at the age of 13.

Prior to pursuing a career in bodybuilding, which he attributes with saving his life, he worked as a lifeguard.

Spouses and Children

He married Glenda in the early 1990s and fathered two children with her. His second marriage was to Angie in 1998. He and Angie divorced in 2006. He married Sarah Jade in 2015. As of 2021, he has three children.

Career

He made his SmackDown debut in May 2002 under the ring name Batista, but it wasn't until he switched to Raw and defeated Kane twice that "The Animal" started to gain attention in the WWE Universe.

He appeared in “Wrong Side of Town'' (2010) and “Riddick” (2013) . In the latter, a sci-fi action film directed and written by David Twohy, he starred alongside Vin Diesel, Mathew Nable, and Katee Sackhoff, among others.

He joined MMA and triumphed in his debut match as a professional fighter. He rejoined the WWE in January 2014, only to leave once more in June of that same year.

Controversy

When the Orlando, Florida-based Signature Pharmacy was being investigated for allegedly distributing anabolic steroids illegally, ESPN listed him as one of their customers. He refuted the claims and stated that he was "frequently tested by the WWE" and he, at all times, complied with the WWE Wellness Program.
