About Darren Brown
Darren Brown, often called by his stage name “Wiz”, was a sensational English musician. He is best remembered as the lead singer and main guitarist of the English indie-punk band “Mega City Four”. He also worked with other bands, such as “Ipanema” and “Serpico”.
Background
He was born in London, England. Brown began his professional music career in 1982, at age 20, as a singer and guitarist. In the early 1980s, he performed in various clubs and social centers in London, soon becoming a local icon.
“Mega City Four”
He joined the Farnborough-based “Mega City Four" band in 1987 as their main singer and vocalist. The band was noted for its outstanding and hard-working ethics. They released hit records, such as “Sebastopol Rd.”, “Tranzophobia” and “Peel Sessions' '. They also enjoyed successful extensive tours in the UK, Europe and America, performing at the “Phoenix Festival”, “Reading Festival” and “Glastonbury Festival”.
He released eight albums with the “Mega City Four” until they disbanded in 1996.
Other Bands
In the late 1990s, he joined the Canadian band “Doughboys” and wrote several songs on their albums “Crush” and “Turn Me On”. Additionally, between 2002 and 2006, he worked with the “Ipanema” and “Serpico” bands.
Death
He died at age 44, on December 6, 2006, after suffering blood clotting in his brain.
