About Daniel Libeskind
Before rising to fame, Polish-American architect Daniel Libeskind worked with a number of educational institutions. Between 1978 and 1985, he was with Cranbrook Academy of Art’s Architecture Department where he worked as the director.
In 1989, he established his most popular organization known as Studio Daniel Libeskind. He completed his first notable project in 1998 which was the Felix Nussbaum Haus in Osnabrück, Germany. Since then, he has worked on many popular structures across the globe including the Danish Jewish Museum, the World Trade Center, and the Imperial War Museum North.
Family
His parents, Nachman and Dora Libeskind, helped in his rise to fame. He has been married to Nina Lewis Libeskind since 1969 and they are blessed with three kids named Lev, Rachel, and Noam.
Education
Before joining Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, he studied at the Bronx High School of Science. He also studied at the University of Essex’s School of Comparative Studies.
Recognitions
He was the recipient of the Leo Baeck Medal in 2003. He has also won a number of RIBA International Awards. That aside, Libeskind has been accepted into a number of institutions including the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Royal Academy of Arts.
Trivia
Aside from designing, he’s also an author and has published books like “Breaking Ground” and “Edge of Order”.
Some of his most popular works have been showcased at centers like the Centre Pompidou, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
