Early life
He was born and raised in Johnstownbridge, Ireland. Molony was a student at Clongowes Wood College, Clane. He then moved to Trinity College, Dublin, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in politics and business. During his college days, Molony was actively involved in the activities of the acting society.
He later moved to London and enrolled at the Drama Centre London.
Career highlights
After graduating, Molony’s first performance was in 2011 when he starred in” ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore” – a John Ford play.
He then played the role of vampire Hal in “Being Human,” the B.B.C. Three series. This role gave Molony several recognitions and credits. His other famous roles include playing DC Albert Flight in “Ripper Street” and the DS Jack Weston role in “Suspects.”
He has starred in many theatre shows including, “The Body of an American” and “Travelling Light.”
Awards
In 2007, he was awarded as the overall best performer at the All-Ireland One Act Drama Festival. In addition, he won the 2011 Ian Charleson Award and the 2020 Best Leading Role Actor at the Midlands Movie Awards.
