About Claude Shannon
Claude Shannon was a renowned American engineer whose works helped to develop a message encoding method. He was credited for introducing the information entropy concept which tries to explain a data reception system.
In his 1948 book titled "A Mathematical Theory of Communication", he contributed to the “information theory” which talks about the communication, quantification, and storage of digital data. His other popular literature was titled “A Symbolic Analysis of Relay and Switching Circuits”.
Family
He was raised by his parents Mabel Wolf and Claude Shannon Snr. His 1940 marriage to Norma Levor lasted for only a year. In 1949, he got married to Betty Shannon and they were blessed with three kids.
Education
In 1936, he graduated from the University of Michigan.
Recognitions
He was the recipient of many awards which included the Alfred Noble Prize, National Medal of Science, and the American Academy of Achievement’s Golden Plate Award.
Trivia
During the Second World War, he worked with Bell Labs.
