Actress Cicely Tyson had an amazing, long acting career, which spanned a period of more than seven decades. She started working as a fashion model in the late 1940s. By 1956, she had started appearing in films and television series after previously acting on stage.
She garnered international recognition for film roles such as the titular role in “The Autobiography of Miss Jane” and Rebecca Morgan in “Sounder”.
Family Life
She was born to Frederica and William Augustine Tyson, both immigrants of Nevis origin. Her first husband was called Kenneth Franklin. She later became the wife of Miles Davis, the popular jazz trumpeter in 1981. They divorced in 1989.
