About Christopher Isherwood
Christopher Isherwood was an English novelist, diarist, screenwriter and playwright remembered for being the author of several famous novels such as 1939'sGoodbye to Berlin and 1954's The World in the Evening. His famous 1964 novel A Single Man was adapted into the critically acclaimed 2009 drama film of the same name. The film received an Academy Award nomination and three Golden Globe Award nominations.
Personal Life
He was openly gay and had a very controversial romantic relationship with the renowned American portrait artist Don Bachardy. He met Barchardy in 1953 when he was 48 and Bachardy was just 18. Despite the controversy surrounding their relationship and the age difference, the couple remained together until his death in 1986.
Trivia
He played an instrumental role in popularizing yoga in the United States.
Upon his death in 1986, his body was donated to the UCLA Medical School to be used for medical research.
