About Christina Grimmie
Christina Victoria Grimmie, as she was born, was an extremely talented entertainer who rose to prominence due to her singing and acting skills. She was also noted for her abilities as a songwriter. She developed a huge fan base on social media, especially on YouTube, were she shared covers of notable songs on her platform. She performed covers of songs from artists like Demi Lovata and Justin Bieber.
In 2011, Grimmie gained massive recognition online after she dropped her debut EP titled, “Find Me”. Her first studio album, “With Love”, was released two years later.
Her debut motion picture appearance happened in 2016, when she starred as Emily Atkins in the romantic comedy film, “The Matchbreaker”.
Family
Her father, Albert Grimmie, worked in the telecommunication sector. Her mum, Tina, worked as a receptionist. The singer’s senior brother, Marcus, served as her road manager during her shows.
Accolades
She was honored at the ‘American Music Awards’ in 2011, where she received an award in the category of “New Media Honoree (Female)”. In 2016, she was named the “Choice Web Star” at the ‘Teen Choice Awards’
Death
The rising star’s career was cut short after her unfortunate demise in June of 2017 – she was shot dead after performing at The Plaza Live theatre in Florida. The incident happened during an autograph session.
Facts
In 2014 Grimmie participated at the sixth season of the popular American singing competition, The Voice. She finished in the third position. She was coached by Singer and songwriter, Adam Levine during her time on the show.
She studied at Bethel Baptist Christian School and Cherokee High School, both in Marlton, New Jersey, where she was raised.
She created her YouTube channel, zeldaxlove64 Christina Grimmie, in February of 2009. Her maiden video uploaded on the channel was a cover of the track, "Don't Wanna Be Torn", performed by Hannah Montana.
In 2010 she and fellow online star, Sam Tsui did a cover version of Nelly’s track, “Just a Dream” – the video was seen over 160 million times in eight years.
Grimmie was murdered by Kevin James Loibl, who later shot himself dead.
