About Chris LeDoux
Chris LeDoux was an American singer-songwriter, bronze sculptor and rodeo competitor. He started his professional rodeo career in 1970. He decided to compose songs to help finance his career trips across the United States. After retiring from his rodeo career in 1980, he turned his attention to a full-time music career. His first 22 albums were self-released and in 1991, he released his 23rd album and the first to be produced under a major label (Capitol Records), “Western Underground”. As of the end of his career, he had released 36 albums.
Family Life
He was married to Peggy Rhoads from 1972 until his death. They had five children including country music singer Ned LeDoux.
Achievements
He is a member of the Rodeo Hall of Fame. He was honored with the Academy of Country Music’s Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award in 2004.
Death
He died on March 9, 2005 after a short battle with bile duct cancer.
