About Cheick Kongo
Cheick Kongo is the ring name of Cheick Guillaume Ouedraogo, a French mixed martial art (MMA) fighter. Before making his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut, in 2006, he had been a kickboxing professional, having won 21 out of his 23 matches.
The UFC released him in April 2013 after the expiration of his contract and he joined Bellator MMA later that year. At Bellator, he has been a heavyweight champion.
Personal Life
He is the son of a Congolese woman and Burkinabe man. He was five years old when he began receiving training in Karate and Kendo.
In his late teens, he added Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Greco-Roman Wrestling and Savate to his martial arts collection. French rugby player Fulgence Ouedraogo is his cousin.
Achievements
He was named the UFC’s “Knockout of the Year” in 2011. He was Bellator MMA’s Season 9 Heavyweight Tournament Champion.
