He was the only child born to Adelaide and Charles Parker. He fathered two children with his common-law wife Chan Parker.
Trivia
For several years, he battled with a severe addiction to heroin, which contributed towards his premature death. His addiction often saw him pawn his musical instruments in order to get money to buy heroin.
Although he was an atheist, his family gave him a Christian funeral when he died.
