About Charles Perrault
The Frenchman, Charles Perrault, was an author in the 17th century known for his introduction of a new branch of literature called the fairy tale. He first worked in King Louis XIV’s court after studying law. He held powerful ranks including Académie française in 1671. His famous works include “Little Red Riding Hood", “Bluebeard”, “Cinderella”, “Sleeping Beauty” and “Puss in Boots”.
Education
He studied at the Lycée Saint-Louis et au Collège de Beauvais.
Family
The author was the son of Paquette Le Clerc and Pierre Perrault. He had seven siblings. He got married to Marie Guichon in 1672. He had three children.
Death
He died in Paris at the age of 75.
