About Charles Olson
Charles Olson was a prominent and influential 19th-century literary theorist and poet from America. He has been globally recognized as the first person to use the word, postmodern, to discuss American poetry.
He also gained recognition for being the foremost influential personality of post-World War II American poets.
As a teenager, he was already endowed with the gift of writing and speaking publicly. This was made evident when he was adjudged a champion orator in high school.
Olson also worked as a lecturer. He taught English literature and English language at higher educational institutions such as Wesleyan University, Clark University, Radcliffe College, Black Mountain College, and the University of Connecticut.
