Yvette Marie Stevens, known professionally as Chaka Khan, is an American R&B, soul singer and songwriter. She started her music career with the American band called Rufus. In the course of her career, she is said to have sold more than 70 million records all over the world.
Family
She was born to Charles Stevens and Sandra Coleman. She is the eldest of five children.
Khan married and divorced twice. Her marriage to her first husband, Hassan Khan, in 1970, ended just after a short while. She later had a relationship with a man named Rahsaan Morris and gave birth to her daughter, Milini.
In 1976, she married Richard Holland, the father of her son, Damien Holland. They divorced in 1980.
Achievements
As of early 2020, Khan was known to have received 10 Grammy Awards. In 2009, she was honoured with the “Soul Train Music Special Female Legend Music Award” at the Soul Train Awards.
