About Cecil B. DeMille
Cecil B. DeMille was an American filmmaker remembered for directing the 1956 religious epic film The Ten Commandments, which is one of the highest-grossing films of all time. His other notable films include 1914's The Squaw Man, 1927's The King of Kings, 1934's Cleopatra and 1952's The Greatest Show on Earth. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Hollywood filmmakers of all time.
Personal Life
In 1902, he and actress Constance Adams tied the knot. Constance bore him a daughter named Cecilia in 1908. The couple later adopted three children, including Richard DeMille, who became a renowned author, journalist and psychologist.
Achievements
Throughout his lifetime, he won numerous prestigious awards, including three Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards and a Laurel Award.
In 1952, he became the first person to receive the special honorary Golden Globe Award. The award was later named after him, thus becoming the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
He has multiple stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
