About Carlton Fisk
Following his impressive career in the MLB, American baseball legend Carlton Fisk became a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. Regarded as one of the competition’s greatest catchers of all-time, Fisk made his major league debut with the Boston Red Sox in 1969 after a number of years in the lower competitions. He also played for the Chicago White Sox between 1981 and 1993.
Family
He spent most of his early years with his parents who are simply referred to as Cecil and Leona. The baseball star grew up alongside five siblings named Julie, Cedric, Calvin, Janet, and Conrad. His three children with Linda Fisk are Carlyn, Casey, and Courtney.
Education
After Charlestown High School, Fisk moved to the University of New Hampshire where he also played basketball in addition to baseball.
Honors
While playing in the MLB, he won three Silver Slugger Awards, a Gold Glove Award, and was selected into 11 All-Star teams. The number 27 shirt that he wore at the Boston Red Sox has been retired in his honor. He has also been inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame.
Fun Facts
A philanthropist, Fisk has worked with some popular charity organizations like the Cancer Support Center.
He made a cameo appearance in the film titled “Field of Dreams” which was released in 1989.
He’s sometimes known by his nicknames "The Commander" or "Pudge".
At a stage in his life, Fisk served in the Army Reserve.
