About Carl Lewis
Carl Lewis is an iconic former American track and field athlete whose impressive accomplishments on the track have led him to be regarded as the greatest track & field athlete of all time. Throughout his massively successful career he competed in four Olympic Games and won a total of nine Olympic gold medals and an Olympic silver medal.
Achievements
Besides his Olympic medals, he also won 10 World Championship medals, eight of which were gold medals. In 1999, the International Olympic Committee named him the “Sportsman of the Century”.
Trivia
After retiring from athletics in 1997, he ventured into acting and appeared in a number of films including the 2002 television film Atomic Twister.
He is a vegan, who claims that his vegan diet contributed significantly to his impressive athletic performance.
In 2011, he attempted running for a seat in the New Jersey Senate but was disqualified.
