About Cardi B
Cardi B is an American rapper, songwriter and TV personality who gained international stardom with a number of hit songs, including “Foreva”, “Money”, and "Bodak Yellow".
Her rise to fame began when she appeared as a cast of VH1’s TV reality series dubbed, Love & Hip Hop: New York. Her music career took off in 2015 after she was featured by Jamaican reggae artist, Shaggy in the remix version of his single “Boom Boom”.
Cardi played the role of the character, Diamond in the 2019 drama film, Hustlers, which also featured American singer, Jennifer Lopez.
Family Life
Cardi B, whose actual name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, was born to multinational parents. Her father is of Dominican origin and her mother hails from Trinidad and Tobago.
She has a younger sister called Hennessy Carolina (who is also prominent on social media).
Cardi got married to fellow rapper, Offset in September 2017. In July 2018, the couple had their first child together - Kulture Kiari Cephus.
Achievements
Cardi B’s music career has earned her several awards and nominations. Some of her numerous awards comprise the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, which she received for her 2018 album, titled, Invasion of Privacy.
She also picked up the award for the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist category at the BET Awards of 2019. Her track, “Money” picked up the Best Hip Hop Video at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.
Cardi was the highest nominee at the MTV Music Video Awards in 2018. She was nominated for 12 award categories, winning 3 of them.
In 2019, her collaborative track with Maroon 5, “Girls Like You” received a Grammy Award nomination. At that event, her hit songs “Be careful” and “I Like It” were both selected for Best Rap Performance & Record of the Year, respectively.
Trivia
Before becoming a successful singer, Cardi initially worked as a stripper, a job she began when she was 19 years old.
Her long-standing feud with fellow rapper, Nicki Minaj reached a boiling point when both singers came close to blows at a gathering during the New York Fashion Week in September 2018. The incident saw the "Bodak Yellow” hitmaker pull off her shoe and throw it at Minaj, narrowly missing her.
