About Camilla Parker Bowles
Camilla Parker Bowles was not born a royal and before becoming one, worked as a secretary and decorator. She became eligible for royalty after marrying Charles, Prince of Wales, who is also the Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay. Indeed these titles were officially bestowed upon her by her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, as a wedding gift.
Camilla Parker Bowles is known as being a compassionate person, serving in areas as diverse as osteoporosis, child literacy and sexual abuse. She is also Patron of a number of non-governmental organizations, including Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres, Plumpton College Charitable Foundation and the London Chamber Orchestra.
Personal Life
Before marrying Prince Charles in 2005, Camilla Parker Bowles was wed to army officer Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973. However, they divorced in 2005. Through her first marriage, Camilla has mothered two children, Thomas and Laura, who were respectively born in 1974 and 1978.

In 2012, when Camilla and her husband, Prince Charles celebrated the 7th anniversary of their matrimony, the Queen rewarded Camilla by assigning her to the Royal Victorian Order.
In 2013, Camilla became the first woman and the first British Royal to be appointed as the Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen.
On 9th of June, 2016, Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall received another major appointment from the Queen. This time around, she was appointed as a member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council. By this appointment, Camilla became the first Princess by marriage to occupy that position.
On the 9th of December 2010, Camilla and her husband, Prince Charles escaped unharmed after an attack on their traveling vehicle by demonstrating students. The students at that time were demonstrating against the increase in tuition fees.
Camilla’s hobbies include horse riding, and as such, she is also involved with the British Equestrian Federation.
