About Butch Vig
Butch Vig is a famous musician known to be one of the founders of the rock band called Garbage. Mostly used as a drummer, the American began his career while in university. Before joining the aforementioned group, he was a member of Spooner, a band he helped form in 1974.
He helped Garbage to issue their self-named maiden album. He has also worked with other groups like 5 Billion in Diamonds, and The Emperors of Wyoming.
As a producer
He, together with Steve Marker, established the Smart Studios in 1984. The studio’s first recognized work came seven years later when they helped publish “Gish”, an album by The Smashing Pumpkins, and “Nevermind” recorded by Nirvana.
He has gone on to work with many well-known artists like Jimmy Eat World, and Laura Jane Grace.
Family
His original name is Bryan David Vig and was raised by his parents Betty and DeVerne Vig. He has shared lots of memorable moments with his siblings Lisa and Chris. His daughter with Beth Halper is called Bo Violet.
Education
He studied film directing at the University of Wisconsin.
