About Buckminster Fuller
Buckminster Fuller was a renowned American architect, designer, author and inventor known for popularizing the geodesic dome and the term Spaceship Earth. He is also known for coining the term Synergetics. He is regarded as one of the greatest 20th century inventors and visionaries. In 1983, the then U.S. President Ronald Reagan honored him with America's highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of his impressive works over the years.
Family Life
He and Anne Hewlett tied the knot in 1917. The marriage produced two daughters: Allegra and Alexandra. He and Anne remained married until his death in 1983.
Trivia
His 3-year-old daughter Alexandra died tragically in 1922.
He almost committed suicide in 1927 as a result of finding it difficult to provide financially for himself and his family.
From 1974 to 1983, he served as the World President of the famous high IQ society Mensa.
He died an hour after suffering from a heart attack. His death came just 11 days before he would have turned 88.
