About Bobby Seale
Bobby Seale’s name will forever be associated with the struggles of African Americans to achieve equality in the 20th century. The political activist is known best for having been a co-founder of the now-defunct Black Panther Party along with Huey P. Newton. The party, which was established in 1966, was known for its advocacy against police brutality towards Black people.
He was infamously jailed in 1970 for contempt of court for four years during the Chicago Seven trial. He also stood trial later that year as an accused in the New Haven Black Panther trials but was eventually acquitted.
Family Life
His mother, Thelma Seale was a homemaker and his father, George Seale was a carpenter. He was first married to Artie Seale from 1965 to 1967. In 1974, he got married for the second time to Leslie Johnson.
Publications
He has published books such as “Seize the Time: The Story of the Black Panther Party and Huey P. Newton” and “A Lonely Rage: The Autobiography of Bobby Seale”.
