About Bjarne Stroustrup
Though he was born in Denmark, Bjarne Stroustrup started his career in the United States as an employee of the Computer Science Research Center of Bell Labs. It was during his time with the organization that he began working on his most popular project named ‘C++’, a programming language.
Until 2002, he worked with AT&T Bell Labs as the head of its Large-scale Programming Research. In 2014, he was appointed the Managing Director of Morgan Stanley’s technology department. He has also taught at some well-known educational institutions like Texas A&M University, and Columbia University.
Education
He read computer science and mathematics at Aarhus University. He had his PhD training at the University of Cambridge.
Honors
His work has earned him many accolades which include the Grace Murray Hopper Award, Computer Pioneer Award, Dr. Dobb's Excellence Award, and the Dahl–Nygaard Prize.
Trivia
Stroustrup has also published many books with some titled “The Design and Evolution of C++” and “A Tour of C++”.
In a satiric interview which popped up in 1998, the computer scientist was believed to have said that his aim for creating the programming language was to help programmers earn more salary.
