About Bill Walton
Bill Walton, born William Theodore Walton III, played in the NBA from 1974 to 1988 as a centre. He spent his college career with the UCLA Bruins. In the NBA Draft of 1974, he was chosen first overall by the Portland Trailblazers. After a good start and subsequent successful run in the league, he got plagued with injuries and slowed down after the 1977/1978 season. The injuries also ruined his years with the San Diego Clippers (1979 – 1985). He later had an impressive stint with the Boston Celtics, from where he later retired.
Family Life
His parents were William Theodore Walton and Gloria Anne Hickey. His brother, Bruce, played in the NFL. He had two other siblings.
He was married twice: first to Susie and then to Lori in 1991. His son, Luke, won the NBA twice with the Lakers. He had three other sons.
Achievements
He won the NBA finals with both Boston Celtics and Portland Trailblazers. He was named “Most Valuable Player” in 1978.
Trivia
He launched a career as a sportscaster in the early 1990s.
