About Betty Lynn
Having been trained by her mezzo-soprano mother to sing at five years old, Betty Ann Theresa Lynn eventually got her start in the entertainment industry at 18 years old by touring the China Burma India Theater with the United Service Organizations. She was required to visit and sing upon request for patients.
Upon her return home, she made her acting debut as a cast member of a radio drama series. By 1940, she had debuted on Broadway, where she was later discovered and offered a 20th Century Fox contract. She is known best for appearing as Thelma Lou in “The Andy Griffith Show”.
Family Life
Her mother’s name was Elizabeth Ann Lynn. When Betty was 5 years old, her mother divorced her father because of his abusive nature. George Andrew Lynn, her grandfather, helped in her upbringing.
Achievements
She became a Missouri Walk of Fame inductee in 2007.
Death
The American actress was in the process of completing her autobiography before she passed away. Her demise was caused by a short illness.
Trivia
She retired from the industry in 2006. Her film credits include “June Bride” and “Cheaper by the Dozen” (1950).
