About Bernie Taupin
When Bernie Taupin auditioned for the song writing position at Liberty Records in 1967, little did he know that he was about to become one of the most popular singers and songwriters in history. It was during his time at the auditioning that he first came into contact with ace singer Elton John. The two would go on to work on more than 30 albums, with Taupin serving as the main writer.
Some of John’s most popular songs that he worked on are "Rocket Man", "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" and "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues".
Other collaborations
Aside from John, he also worked with other famous artistes such as David Ackles, and Josquin Des Pres. He was also one of the writers of Brian Wilson’s single titled “What I Really Want For Christmas”.
Family
He’s the son of Robert Taupin and Daphne Cort. His senior brother is simply referred to as Tony. His marriage to his third wife, Heather Kidd, produced two kids named Georgey Devon and Charley Indiana. Prior to that, he had been in three different marriages: first one was to Maxine Feibelman, before he married Toni Lynn Russo. He was also married to Stephanie Haymes Roven.
Honors
In 1992, he was ushered into the famous Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside his longtime partner, Elton John. He was also a recipient of a Golden Globe Award in 2006.
Trivia
He has mentioned his granddad, John Leonard Palchett "Poppy" Cort, as one of his earliest influences.
