About Bernard Arnault
Having been named the richest person in the fashion industry in April 2018, Bernard Jean Étienne Arnault is estimated to be worth several billions of dollars. He entered the luxury goods industry in 1984 through his acquisition of Financière Agache.
He also went on to become the owner of Christian Dior, after acquiring it alongside other stores owned by its parent company, Boussac Saint- Frères. In 1989, he became the chairman of LVMH Moet Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE.
Family Life
He was born to Marie-Josèphe Savinel and Jean Léon Arnault. His maternal grandfather was Ferret-Savinel founder, Étienne Savinel. He has two children with his ex-wife Anne Dewavrin and three with Hélène Mercier, whom he married in 1991.
Achievements
He has been a two-time recipient of France’s Legion of Honour merits. He was given the Woodrow Wilson Award for Global Corporate Citizenship in 2011.
Trivia
He is also an avid art collector and has collected artworks by the likes of Picasso, Andy Warhol and Yves Klein.
