Benny Goodman was a renowned American jazz and swing musician, clarinetist and bandleader who went by the moniker the "King of Swing". Some of his notable songs include Sing, Sing, Sing, Don't Be That Way and Flying Home. He is regarded as one of the Swing Era's most popular figures.
Family Life
He was one of the twelve children of his parents Dora Grisinsky and David Goodman. He and Alice Frances Hammond tied the knot in 1942. The marriage produced two daughters: Rachel and Benjie. He and Alice remained married until her death in 1978.
Trivia
In 1938, history was made when his band became the first jazz band to play at the Carnegie Hall in New York City.
In 1988, he was honored with an induction into the Radio Hall of Fame.
