About Ben Barnes
Ben is an American politician and real estate guru. He is also a crisis manager and lobbyist. He is prominent for being a member of the Texas House of Representatives where he served as the Speaker between 1965 and 1969. From 1969 until 1973, he occupied the office of the 36th Lieutenant Governor of Texas.
In addition to his political career, he boasts of having started a highly-successful real estate business during the 1970s and 1980s. He joined the lottery industry in the 1990s when he started a partnership with GTECH Corporation.

His father is B.F. Barnes while his mother is Ina B. Carrigan. He has a brother named Rick Barnes. In 1957, he got married to Martha Morgan, whom he later divorced. He married Melanie Barnes in 1989 – they later went their separate ways. He got married to Elizabeth McDermott in 2019. He is a father to Greg, Amy, Elena and Blaire Barnes.
Educational Background
He completed his studies at De Leon High School in 1956 and studied at the University of Texas at Austin.
He was named as a Distinguished Alumnus by The University of Texas in 1995.
