About B. J. Thomas
B.J. Thomas, born Billy Joe Thomas, was a household name during the 1960s to 1980s. The singer started his music career at a very young age with a local church group. He later joined a band known as The Triumphs, and in 1966 they dropped an album titled “I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry”. One of their singles, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", which was originally released by Hank Williams, made over a million sales.Later that year, he issued his first album as a solo artiste which was titled "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry". He gained global recognition for his 1968 song "Hooked on a Feeling". Throughout his career, he released over 30 albums.
Family
His parents Vernon and Geneva Thomas contributed to the development of his career. In 1968, he became the husband of Gloria Richardson. The couple raised three kids named Erin, Paige and Nora.
Education
He had his education at Lamar Consolidated High School.
Awards
He won five Grammy Awards between 1977 and 1981. He was selected into the Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 2014.
