About Avigdor Lieberman
The renowned politician Avigdor Lieberman is an Israeli politician who is also Soviet-born. He’s been the head of a number of departments, including transportation, foreign affairs, defense, and finance. He was appointed chief of the latter in 2021. He has also previously served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Israel on two occasions.
Early life and Education
Formerly known as Evet Lvovich Lieberman, this politician was born to a Russian-speaking Jewish family. Avigdor later enrolled at the Chisinau Agricultural Institute, majoring in Hydrological land improvement. He later earned his BA in International Relations and Political Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Political Career
Avigdor started his political career with a bang in 1998 when he played a key role in the founding of the Zionist Forum for Soviet Jewry. He later served as the Director-General of the Prime Ministers' office in 1997. Avigdor has chalked a lot of ministerial roles from 2001 to 2021. Functions include the minister of National Infrastructure, Minister of transportation, Foreign Affairs Minister, and even the Minister of Defence. He was given the finance ministry portfolio in 2021.
Personal Life
The politician married Ella Lieberman in 1981 and has 3 children: Amos, Michal, and Yaakov.
