About Arthur Ernest Morgan
The person behind the design and construction of the Miami Conservancy District flood control system is none other than the American Civil engineer and educator Arthur Ernest Morgan.
Early Life
Morgan graduated from high school and went on to pursue his studies in hydraulic engineering. The civil engineer became an expert in the art and later founded his own firm in 1910.
Career
Morgan took the role of the president of Antioch College from 1920 to 1936 and became the first chairman of the Tennessee Valley Authority from 1933 to 1938. After the devastating flood in Ohio in 1913, Morgan was tasked to see to the construction of a flood control system in 1933.
Personal Life
The civil engineer was married to Urania T. Jones in 1905 and later married Lucy Middleton Griscom in 1972.
