About Antonio Villaraigosa
Democratic politician Antonio Villaraigosa began his career in the early 1990s as a member of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Board.
He represented the California State Assembly’s 45th district from 1994 to 2000. During that period, he also got the chance to serve the Assembly first as a Majority Leader and then as its 63rd Speaker.
Villaraigosa is best known for his time (2005-2013) as the 41st Mayor of Los Angeles. Prior to that, he had been on the Los Angeles City Council as a Member from the 14th district.
Family Life
He was married to Corina Raigosa in 1987 and changed his surname to Villaraigosa. He already had two children before their marriage and he had two more with Raigosa. They divorced in 2007 following his affair with a television presenter. In 2016, he married Patricia Govea.
Trivia
He was unsuccessful in his bid to become the Governor of California in 2018.
