About Anthony Rizzo
Anthony Vincent Rizzo is an American professional baseball player. Rizzo, who is noted for playing as a first baseman, was chosen by the Boston Red Sox during the 2007 Major League Baseball draft. He was then directly out of high school. The team featured him in the Minor League Baseball through its rookie level affiliate teams.
In 2011, he debuted in the Major League Baseball after he was traded to the San Diego Padres. The following year, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs.
Personal Life
His brother, John Rizzo, played college football for the Florida Atlantic University. After undergoing six months of chemotherapy, he was told that his cancer, known as Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which was diagnosed in April 2008, was in remission. He married Emily Vakos in December 2018.
Achievements
His achievements include the 2017 Roberto Clemente Award, the 2016 Silver Slugger Award, the 2016 Platinum Glove Award and the 2016 World Series champion.
Trivia
He founded the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation in 2012 to raise money for cancer research and treatment.
