Ann Rutherford was used in a number of radio plays before she made her Hollywood debut in 1935. She became a household name with her performances in films such as “Out West with the Hardys” and “Adventures of Don Juan”. The Canadian-American actress would be remembered for portraying the Carreen O'Hara character in the 1939 film “Gone with the Wind”.
Family
She was born to Lucille Mansfield, an actress and John Rutherford. She was the sister of actress Judith Arlen. Her much publicized marriage to actor and producer William Dozier ended in 1991. Before her marriage to William, she was the wife of David May and together they had a daughter called Gloria. Ann spent her later years with her partner Al Morley.
Trivia
She became a citizen of the United States in 1953. She started acting at the age of four years.
