About Aneta Corsaut
Prior to making her official film debut in the 1958 horror film, “The Blob”, Aneta Louise Corsaut had dropped out of college and earned minor roles on television. The late actress and writer is best remembered for her portrayal of Helen Crump on the sitcom, “The Andy Griffith Show” from 1963 to 1968.
She is also known for starring as Irma Howell in the sitcom, “Mrs. G. Goes to School” and playing the recurring role of Head Nurse Bradley in “House Calls”.
Personal Life
Her parents were Opal J. Swarens and Jesse Harrison Corsaut. She studied drama at the Northwestern University but abandoned her studies in her third year to peruse her acting career. Although she was never married in her lifetime, she reportedly had an affair with Andy Griffith during her time on his show.
Death
She passed away in Los Angeles, California, on November 5, 1995, after a battle with cancer. She was 62.
Trivia
Her final on-screen appearance was as Judge Cynthia Justin on the television series, “Matlock”.
