Andrew Velazquez is an American baseball player who has played for Fordham Prep in high school and on behalf of the Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Indians, and Baltimore Orioles professionally. And although he has been a journeyman during the first few years of his professional career, he seems to have established himself as a MLB mainstay.
Achievements
During his senior year in high school he was named All-Bronx Baseball Player of the Year.
He received a baseball scholarship to Virginia Tech.
He opted out of attending college when he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2012, being assigned to their minor league squad.
In 2014 he set a Minor League record by reaching base in 72 consecutive games.
That same season he became the Midwest League’s Prospect of the Year.
Trivia
He made his Major League debut in 2018 and within the time span of 34 innings played six different positions.
The Orioles picked him up off of waivers in 2020.
