Andrew Carnegie was a Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist.
His Highlights/Legacy
He was mainly responsible for the expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century. He built Pittsburgh's Carnegie Steel Company and the Carnegie Hall in New York City, while he created the U.S. Steel Corporation.
During the last decades of his life, he donated almost 90% of his fortune to charities.
His Personal Life
He was married to Louise Whitfield and they had a daughter, Margaret Carnegie Miller. He died of bronchial pneumonia at the age of 83. He had already given away more than 300,000,000 american dollars of his wealth to foundations and charities.
