About Andres Galarraga
Galarraga is a former baseball player, who made his debut in the Montreal Expos team and played as the team’s first baseman from 1985 to 1991.
Career
His junior career in baseball started with the Venezuelan Winter League, where he was signed to the Leones del Caracas Team. He began playing in the 1978 /1979 season and played as the catcher and third baseman. He played for the team till 1993 and that same year, he retired from the Venezuelan Winter League.
He also participated in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) and he played for teams such as West Palm Beach Expos, Calgary Expos and Jacksonville Suns. He played for Jacksonville during the 1984 season and he made the following achievements: .289 batting average, 27 home runs and a runs batted in of 87.
With Major League Baseball (MLB), aside from playing for the Montreal Expos, he played for other teams which included the Colorado Rockies, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants and Anaheim Angels.
Galarraga finished his baseball career with a .288 batting average and a run batted in of about 1,300.
Awards
The former Atlanta Braves player made the list of the All-Star Game five times, including in 1988, 1993 and 1998. He was also named an NL batting champion in 1993.
Trivia
He bagged two Silver Slugger Awards.
