About Andrea Barzagli
Andrea Barzagli is a retired professional player from Italy. He played as a defender. He started his soccer career as a youth player for Rondinella Calcio. Later, he joined A.C. Pistoiese in 2000. After spending a year with the said club, he rejoined his former team.
In 2003, Barzagli made his first Serie A appearance for Chievo. The following year, he moved to Palermo, spending 4 years with the club. While at Palermo, Barzagli gained public recognition.
In 2008, he joined VfL Wolfsburg of the German Bundesliga for a fee of €12.95 million. After the end of his three contracts with the club, he did not renew it but rather signed a two-year deal with Juventus which was worth €300,000. In 2014, he renewed his contract at the latter team.
International career
On the international stage, Barzagli started as an Under-21 player for Italy in 2003. The year after, he debuted for the senior national team. He represented his nation at the 2006, and 2014 FIFA World Cup. He was also called up for 2008, 2012, and 2016 UEFA Euro qualifying tournaments.

He won the 1998–1999 Serie D title with Rondinella. At Ascoli, he won the 2001–2002 Serie C1 title, and the 2001-2002 Supercoppa di Lega di Prima Divisione. Again, he won the 2008-2009 Bundesliga with Wolfsburg. Furthermore, he won 8 consecutive Serie A titles, 4 Supercoppa Italiana trophies, and 4 Coppa Italia cups with Juventus.
At the national level, Barzagli helped Italy to win the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the 2004 Olympic Bronze Medal, the 2004 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, the 2012 UEFA European Championship silver medal, and the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup bronze medal.
Individually, he has been selected to the Serie A Team of the Year four times. He also made the list of the 2015 UEFA Champions League Team of the Group Stage. Additionally, he was honored with the 2006 Golden Collar of Sports Merit.
