About Alice Faye
Star of the 1948 comedy radio program "The Phil Harries-Alice Faye Show" was an American-born actress whose career spanned more than half a century. Faye is best known for her appearance in the 1937 movie "On the Venue" and the 1943 film “Hello, Frisco, Hello”. In the latter, which was directed by filmmaker H. Bruce Humberstone, Faye starred alongside John Payne, Jack Oakie, and June Havoc.
Early Life
Faye was born to Alice Moffit Leppert and Charles Leppert. The actress began her entertainment career as a chorus girl and later moved to Broadway in search of fame.
Career
Faye earned her major break when featured in the 1934 movie "George White's Scandals". Her fame edged her on to act in other films such as "Now I'll Tell", "365 Nights in Hollywood," and "She Learned About Sailors" in the same year.
Faye also acted in other popular movies such as "Barricade" in 1939 and even played herself in the 1995 documentary "Carmen Miranda: Bananas Is My Business."
Personal Life and Death
The actress married actor Tony Martin from 1937 to 1941. She later married actor and comedian Phil Harris from 1941 to 1995. She died in 1998 and was survived by 2 children.
Trivia
Faye appeared in the popular radio movie film called "Suspense" in 1951.
