About Alexi Laiho
Alexi Laiho co-founded the Finnish heavy metal band Children of Bodom at the age of 14 with Jaska Raatikainen, who became the band’s drummer. The band was initially known as IneartheD. He was the band’s lead vocalist and lead guitarist. In March 2020, about three months after the disbandment of Children of Bodom, he formed Bodom After Midnight with the other remaining original member of the former band. He was appreciated by fans of metal music for his impressive guitar skills.
Family Life
He was raised in Espoo, Finland. He was married to American singer and keyboardist Kim Goss from 2002 to 2004. As of his death, he had been married to Kelli Wright since 2017.
Achievements
He won the “Best Shredder” award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards in 2008. In 2011, he topped a poll by fans of metal music, ranking the all-time greatest metal guitarists.
Death
His December 2020 death was reported in January 2021 and attributed to “long-term health complications”.
